I enjoyed writing my previous post about being yourself in high school, so today I am writing about knowing who your true friends are. Friendships in high school are tricky, but in my experience, it means more to have fewer true friends than to have more “fake friends.”
There are some people who have stuck by my side no matter what; who have been there for me and liked me for who I am since the beginning. Sure, those people are far fewer than the average Facebook friend list, but quality trumps quantity, my friends.
You can choose your friends, so choose wisely. Associate yourself with people who make good choices, care for you, and are loyal. And, remember that to have a friend, you have to be a friend. Friendships are a two-way street, so make sure you reciprocate these good behaviors.
Be kind and you will attract kindness. Don’t talk bad about people behind their backs (or to their face!), give everyone a chance, and remember that friendship isn’t about being cool- friendship cannot be bought- and true friends are worth their weight in gold.
I hope this post was helpful! Happy Friday!
