Review: The Beautiful and Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Review: The Beautiful and Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Hello loves,

Today we are going to talk about my new favorite classic book.

The Beautiful and Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald is a modern classic that takes place in the roaring twenties. While The Great Gatsby is regarded as Fitzgerald’s masterpiece, I have to argue that TB&D deserves the rank as his best book.

The story follows the marriage of Anthony Patch and his wife, Gloria, as they navigate Manhattan and travels awaiting a family fortune. What I love about this book is its real depiction of love. It really drives home the idea that no relationship is perfect, especially long-term ones. It focuses on the challenges that couples face; issues that are surprisingly relevant to modern day life.

I mentioned this book in my The Best Classic Reads (for People Who Hate Classics) post, before I had finished reading it. It is a very easy-to-read classic, and the plot is actually amazing. If you’re into Gossip Girl, Manhattan-ish settings, this book might really be for you.

If you’re not into classics but you want to read one, this is absolutely a great place to start. I actually loved this book.

I hope you guys found this review helpful! Thanks for reading.
