Hello, my dears!
Since December, my life has been painted in winter white. Platinum snow, slate gray skies, and of course my trusty cream throw blanket.
After snowfall upon snowfall, I’ve been craving a little color and life in my space. I ended up pulling out some of my old throw blankets and knickknacks to liven up my room. So, I decided to share some easy ways to add a little color into your winter!
Plants: Taking care of something green is the easiest way to breathe some fresh air into your home. There’s nothing like a visit to the greenhouse this time of year; and finding a good low-maintenance plant to keep in your office or bedroom will be pretty easy!
Aroma Diffuser: My mom has these things all over the house, and for a good reason. Air fresheners from Glade and Febreze have all sorts of yucky chemicals. In these diffusers, you just add water and a few drops of essential oil and voila, you’re done. No toxic parabens being pumped into your clean air. If you get a super dry throat while you sleep during the winter, these diffusers double as a humidifier.
Electric Blanket: I finally broke down and pulled my heated blanket out of the linen closet. And my oh my, is it glorious. There’s no better way to warm up!
Colorful Throws: I painted my walls a neutral color so I could swap out my pillows and blankets periodically and they would always match. A good way to save money and keep your space updated for the season is by purchasing a few pillow inserts, and sewing your own pillow cases. You can find cheap pillow inserts and fabrics to make your own, so that you’re not shelling out $40 for a throw pillow. Pillow cases are so easy to make, and they’re totally customizable!
Fresh Flowers: Nothing like a midwinter bouquet of fresh flowers. Trust me, a $10 bunch of blooms from the market is worth every penny- seeing that bit of greenery during the cold months will perk you up.
Those are all my ideas! Very easy and affordable, and will make your space feel much more cozy. 🙂
