When Things Go Wrong…

When Things Go Wrong…

Hi guys!

Have you ever had one of those days where everything just goes wrong?

Yeah, me too.

And the entire point of my newfound journey to be honest in my writing is to tell you guys the truth about what really goes on…

But not to complain, because there’s so much more good that outweighs the bad and it’s a happy balance.

But anyway, what I really wanted to talk about here was that sh*t happens. You can plan out your entire day and your entire plan can fall apart because sh*t happens. And to be frank, I think it’s better to embrace that rather than to fight it. There’s ways to make your day a little better. And sometimes having a bad attitude makes it worse.

And it helps to remember what is within your control and what is not in your control. If there’s nothing you can do, it isn’t worth getting your cortisol pumping.

I try to take my own advice, and sometimes I get called out on that. “You said ____ on your blog, maybe you should start doing that.” I’m a work in progress too.

I think there’s something to be said for making content that’s a little more edgy, a little more raw…and maybe my bad day ruffles some feathers, but it’s mine and putting it out there on the Internet is my decision. And that’s not for attention, or to complain. But to share my stories and be honest. How many times a day are you asked, “How are you?” And maybe you lie and say “Fine,” even though you totally aren’t fine. I don’t see anything wrong with answering that question honestly. You’re not burdening the world by letting people know that your day isn’t perfect. As long as you’re not spewing profanities and cursing the skies, you’re probably not bothering anyone. Sometimes taking a negative experience and turning it into a positive conversation will save you from more despairing thoughts. Sometimes all it takes is one honest answer to earn some heartfelt advice.

And I am pretty darn thankful for the people who manage to turn my sh*t show of a day around. Not all heroes wear capes.

So go cheer someone up, and not just by saying, “Cheer up.” Tell a funny story. Share a cookie. Laugh at yourself.

When things don’t go right…go left.

Thanks for reading! Let me know- do you like these posts? If so, what should I talk about next? They’re really fun to write- so leave me some comments and suggestions! 🙂
