Just because I changed my major doesn’t mean I’m over fashion…
Kent State’s Fashion School is something to be talked about. Ranked Top Five in the United States and number one in the midwest, its various textile labs and internships abroad attract designers and merchandisers from all over the country.
The school hosts an annual fashion show each spring, composed of pieces made by students and modeled by students. The fashion school also inducts a new member to its Hall of Fame each year, to be celebrated among other inductees like Cynthia Rowley and Oscar de la Renta.
I got to sit front-row this year and see all the new styles.
You guys know Natalie- well she and I got to dress up and comment on all the outfits we saw. It was so fun.
And now for some of my favorite trends I saw:
Oversized sleeves: Sleeves literally dragging on the floor. It may not be practical, but it makes a statement.
Grecian-style, flowing fabrics: A summery favorite. With applique details and pastel colors, these dresses were stunning.
Ruffles: They’re back again! And in loud, attention-grabbing colors, too.
British Revival: Kate Middleton with hits of brass, asymmetrical hemlines, and beaded detailing.
This was an amazing experience and one I hope to have again.
