You can’t wait to grow up, and then suddenly, the world is your oyster. You get to call the shots, and it can actually be daunting sometimes.
I think we’re all in the same boat. Almost everyone I talk to has had these types of thoughts before. The truth of the matter is that there isn’t a right or wrong way to live your life. Some people major in their passions, others choose something that might lead to a steady career. Some people like to party and others like to stay in. Some people meet the love of their life and get married and others don’t mind being independent. No one is perfect and no one gets it all right the first time. People move, people transfer, people break up. Change is part of it, and that doesn’t mean the first time through was a failure. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves to get it right the first time. That’s nearly impossible.
Especially at my age, there is a lot of chaos. You’ll probably doubt yourself, which is healthy, because it means you want to reach your full potential. Just know that you will get there, and you will get there your way. No one has lived your life before. There is no map.
I know it’s not easy, but once you loosen your grip and realize life isn’t about making all the right choices, you’ll be able to just enjoy it.
At least I hope so. 😉
